The Little Metz Distortion Unit is a faithful clone of the 1969 Electro Harmonix Muff Fuzz/Little Muff π. The first and smallest of that famous distortion/sustainer that changed the world.
Built around two 2n5133 transistors, the Little Metz yields that mid focused violin like fuzz just like the Muff tones we all know, but without ever being unwieldy, crystal clear clean up, and dirt in between. Fuzz Face players will find it familiar and Muff heads will smile at the more manageable grind of what they love.
Little Metz features NOS vintage components accurate to the originals and high quality modern parts for the most authentic tone and reliability:
- Fairchild se4001 transistors
- Fairchild 4148/914 diodes
- Sprague Cera-mite in/out caps
- Nichicon filter cap 1960's Norplex phenolic resin board
- Metal film resistors
- Switchcraft jacks
- Hammond 1590b raw aluminum box
Originals featured an on/off toggle and a volume knob. I deleted these because a switching input jack is used, disconnecting the battery when an instrument is unplugged, and you really only want this circuit running wide open and controlled with your instruments volume knob.
Little Metz is a full frequency distortion/sustainer and is suitable for guitar or bass.
Powered by 9volt battery only
