Music City Guitars is a locally owned guitar shop in Manchaca. Since we opened our doors in January 2023, we’ve helped a lot of players sell instruments and gear they’ve outgrown, upgraded from, or stopped playing. Consignment gets you a strong price for your gear without the hassle of fielding messages, meeting strangers in parking lots, or shipping it yourself. You bring it in, and we handle the rest.
What we take on consignment
We take electric and acoustic guitars, basses, amplifiers, speaker cabinets, effects pedals, banjos, mandolins, and more. Vintage and used gear does especially well here, because our customers come in looking for character pieces that are hard to find at the big-box stores.
How it works
- Bring it by. Stop in during store hours with your gear. We’ll look it over with you and agree on a price together.
- We sell it. Your item goes on the sales floor here at the shop and in front of our buyers online, on Reverb and our website. We’ll also feature it on our social media.
- You get paid 75%. When your item sells, you receive 75% of the sale price.
How we price your gear
Pricing is a team effort between you and us. We research the current market by looking at recent completed sales of the same item on Reverb and other used-gear marketplaces. We use actual sold prices, not asking prices, because what buyers have really paid is the most accurate measure of value.
We price at fair market value. Gear priced right sells, and selling your gear is the whole point. Once we agree on a price, you’ll receive 75% of that price when the item sells.
If we get an offer
If a buyer offers less than the agreed price, we’ll call or text you before anything happens. You can accept the offer, counter it, or turn it down. Nothing sells below your price without your okay.
When and how you get paid
Every buyer at Music City Guitars gets a one-week return window to play their new gear and make sure it’s right. That week starts on the day of purchase for in-store sales, or on the day the item is delivered for shipped orders.
Once the return window closes, the sale is final and we pay you your 75% by check. Waiting until then protects you as much as the buyer, because you’re never paid for a sale that later comes back.
Example: your guitar sells in the shop for $1,000 on a Saturday. The buyer’s return window ends the following Saturday, and you’re paid $750.
